Accio, trailer! Finally, HBO Max has released the long-awaited preview of “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts”, its upcoming special that will reunite actors and filmmakers from the eight-film series, which will broadcast January 1st. “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”, which launched the movie “Wizarding World”, was released in November 2001 – and the special will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
“Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” which will reunite actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, was recorded on the Warner Bros. studio tour. in London. He will feature talent from films including Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis and Evanna Lynch. Directors David Heyman, Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell and David Yates will also appear.
The trailer features the cast reminiscent of the movies as well as the celebrations in the Great Hall. Watson says, “It feels like time has not passed – and a lot of time has passed.” Radcliffe says something that scared him was “the implication that the most meaningful thing in our lives was done” and that seeing everyone is “joyful” because he understands “however it was not so”.
Bonham Carter says a highlight for her was during “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2”, when she “had to pretend to be Hermione pretending to be Belletrix” as they entered the Gringotts. In conversation with Radcliffe, she says, “I still have my teeth” and puts them in her mouth while he laughs.
Fiennes says his sister, who had Harry Potter-aged children while he was weighing whether to play Voldemort, told him, “You have to do it!”
“When things get really dark and times get really tough, there ‘s something about Harry Potter that makes life richer,” Watson says as the main trio of friends talk in Gryffindor’ s common room.
“It’s a strong bond we will always have,” Grint admits as they embrace him.
HBO Max has consistently released promotional materials for the special. The broadcaster already cast its first glimpse of Radcliffe, Watson and Grint last week, as well as a teaser who showed Coltrane (Hagrid) and Lewis (Neville Longbottom) receiving their invitations to participate in the reunion.
On Wednesday, HBO Max unveiled the key art for “20th Anniversary Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts.
The World Wizarding of Harry Potter has been busy these days. Warner Bros. recently released the trailer for “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” the third film in that franchise, which will be released on April 15th. And cable channels WarnerMedia TBS and Cartoon Network broadcast “Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses,” a game show hosted by Helen Mirren.
However, JK Rowling, the author of the beloved book series, was not interviewed for “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” and will only appear in archival footage around the films. Even recently, Rowling was thrown back into the fray, tweet about proposed reforms to Scottish law that would allow people to more easily identify as their true gender. Her anti-trans views have been condemned by the main Harry Potter movie group.
