At least one person was injured and several firefighters were injured in a fire in Toronto.

One person was killed and several firefighters were injured in a fire that engulfed a house in Scarborough County early Saturday.

Toronto police said they were called to 225 Scarborough Golf Club Road, near Kingston Road, at 3:39 a.m. for a report of a fire in the basement of a home.

The fire eventually reached three alarm clocks, triggering a massive response by several firefighters Ten people.

Acting fire chief Jim Jessop said that during their initial search, five firefighters fell from the floor and called for help to get out of the house.

Firefighters twice called “May,” indicating that staff were trapped or injured and needed help, Jessop said.

Several firefighters were later evacuated and all were later released.

Following their search, firefighters found people inside the building and took them to an ambulance.

The victim died at the hospital.

Toronto Police, fire department and autopsy department are investigating the cause of the fire.
